Happy President's Day

Today is the day to honor two of the greatest leaders this country, nay, that the world has ever seen. Two men who loved God and country above all else. One devoting his life to the freedom and formation of this great republic. The other, giving his life to maintain the union and insure that all men should be free.
God bless General Washington who became President Washington. For his humility and for refusing to be made King George of this new found union.
God bless Abraham Lincoln for standing strong during what was probably the biggest test to disolve this union. And, for ending the blight of slavery that the Founding Fathers sought to abolish.
Just like on Mt. Rushmore, these two figures loom larger than life for anyone who studies the history of our country. Sadly, for many today they are just remembered as the faces on our currency. Let us revisit our past and those who forged it, so that we may plan our future and remain the last best hope.

  1. George "I cannot tell a lie" Washington, and Honest Abe. A far cry from the lying sack of s#&@ that we have sitting in the Oval Office. Not sure when the whole President's Day thing started, but I liked it better when we celebrated Lincoln's bithday on the 12th and Washington's on the 22nd. Now we just have a homoginized version dummed down for a mass audience. Like the shot of Mt. Rushmore. It's a coincidence that I just watched North By Northwest last night on blu-ray. Eva Marie Saint just adds a little extra to the President's faces.

  2. Yeah, kinda like jerk store. I too miss when it was two separate days. Leave it to Hitchcock who always was able to weave into his movies scenes of American history and greatness. The only other president missing on Mt. Rushmore would be "The Gipper" himself. The greatest president of our time. Eva Marie Saint was a nice touch.
